SENIORS
It is safe to say that the Saints managed to play four quarters worth of football in the last quarter against the Eagles.
Going into the last quarter, the Saints were three goals down and looking at an embarrassing defeat that would have seen us slip out of second position and lose the double chance for the finals.
Luckily, all the boys decided to step up and the result was a five-goal final quarter effort. Lewi got the ball rolling by snapping a good goal early in the final quarter, after some strong play in the centre by the wily veteran P. Boyce.
This was followed very quickly by a long goal to Liam Ackland who had only just returned to the field after dislocating his finger in the first quarter.

For the second week in a row, Morgan Jones kicked the goal to put us in front. (This goal was from only ten metres out and an easy chest mark though!) Two more goals, to Lewi and the dashing full forward Hinesy, managed to give the Saints a 17 point victory and the second semi final match versus reigning premiers University this week.

There were some strong performances throughout the day from Lewi, Mike Boyce, Morgs and Marcus who battled hard all day. Josh McKenzie played solidly in defence against Andrew Lydiard and we had to bring many people up from the reserves for this final game due to the unavailability of seven players!

RESERVES
With many players unavailable the young reserves team battled bravely against a bigger and more experienced opposition. Poor kicking for goal also cost The Saints with ‘Goal Shark’ Hines perhaps the greatest offender.
Chad Bedford's effort in tackling and bringing down a player twice his size was the highlight of the game.
The tackle, not exactly out of the AFL textbook, looked like a leopard bringing down a giant buffalo and the umpire (with no sense of humour) choose to penalize poor Chad!!
The team has missed out on the finals for the first time in many seasons having been severely weakened by injuries and unavailability of many senior players.
The team comprised mainly of first year under 15 and 17 players including Jordan Earl, Chad Bedford, Ben Kaiura, Carl Krause, Andrew Horsley, James Simons who along with Liam Ackland and Josh McKenzie (who played seniors) will hopefully go on and become the backbone of a very strong senior team in years to come.
Many thanks to coach Jason Snashall. Jason did a great job with a very inexperienced team that had many changes in personnel over the season.
