Reserve Grade

Takapuna Defaulted to Mt Roskill

Unfortunately the Eagles were unable to field a reserves grade team so the club held a practice game for reserves grade players as well as quite a few of our senior players who needed an extra run.

The game was generally beneficial to all our new players except for poor Andrew Horsley who broke his collarbone. This is a real blow for Andrew and the club. As an improving under 17 player we can ill afford to lose such talent heading into the finals, especially under friendly fire and in such circumstances.

We wish Andrew all the best in his recovery and hope he returns next season.

The seniors had quite a comfortable win against the struggling Eagles. Intending to work on the improvement showed in the previous week the team played in fits and starts in the first half before working harder as a team in the second half and stretching the winning margin.

Credit must go to the Eagles who really served it up to the Saints especially in the first half and showed that desire for the footy can overcome size and talent. They certainly have a lot of potential in their squad as they look forward to re-building for next season.

Marcus Jones and Liam Ackland stood out with their hard running through the mid field inspiring their team mate to lift their games when it counted.

One more away game against the Raider this Sunday before heading into our cut throat semi final at May Road against The Waitakeri Magpies
