Reserve Grade
In a sometime unruly encounter the Saints reserves grade team overcame the spirited Raiders side by 12 points.
Hopefully neutral umpires will prevent a similar display this Sunday when our reserves team again take on the Raiders in the first semi at May Rd and the team will need to take a much more disciplined approach if they want to progress into the preliminary final.
After a slow start, which could have been caused by several late (and non) arrivals, team stepped up a notch after quarter time with Ian Graham, Ben Hick and Ben Richards leading the way. All other players contributed at various stages, which is an encouraging sign for the team heading into the finals.

Seniors
The seniors had an easy win against an undermanned Manurewa. With the defence leading the way the team were able to keep their structures in place and move the ball into the forward line as was asked by coach Francis.
The work around the middle of the ground was impressive for most of the game, which allowed our forwards to take possession and have shots at goal from good positions. This was reflected in the accuracy of the score line.
The team worked on their set plays and stoppages which along will our defence will need to be at it’s absolute best as we head into our cut throat semi final against the Magpies this Sunday. As with the reserves discipline is also another key factor come finals time.

The club thanks Manurewa for playing the senior game as they were short on numbers and could have easily defaulted with nothing but pride to play for. Despite the score-line they really served it up to the Saints and gave us a really tough game.
