G'day men,
Well the pre season is in fullswing and after having a few months off reporting, I am feeling fresher than Zacs mum's white lace panties.
While the players are working hard in the gym, hitting the roads and spending countless hours honing skills, the managment board and directors (which includes myself) are working tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure the Saints have the best chance to bring the 2010 Premiership home to its rightful place - Cairnsys bathroom ledge.

As announced in Ian's last newsletter, Matthew Kemp has managed to be re-appointed as head coach for the 2010 season. There was a huge number of applications for the position but the panel felt that Kemp offered a lot of experience and the respect of the wild Saints outfit.
It is understood that he has met with most players to discuss their work-outs for the off season and is looking to pick up a few players from the AFL draft in July, however the Saints salary cap of 300 dollars and a $50 bar tab at Oscar's poses a problem with attracting any big names.
Also, after a meeting in early November 09, where the issue of player numbers was the main topic, Ian Francis agreed to him and his partner beginning a "player farming" organisation where he will contribute at least one player every year for the next 7 years. The Saints have already been told of two signings that are due this year (one an on-baller and the other a full forward).

In great news for the club, former Falcon and Auckland representative Lewis Hurst has made himself available for selection this year. Hurst had a great season last year after a difficult start when he was stripped of the captaincy.

In other player movements -

Tabe Voigt - has settled into fatherhod nicely after sending his partner back to work so he could become a house husband, but the saints are worried about his availability after being spotted in a pink cooking apron, catering a local baby shower.

Adam Brunt who was granted a 6 month sabattical from AAFL is currently in season in the Auckland Soccer league, Brunt has allegedly dropped 1.5kgs over the last 4 months and is making a name for himself as the best Goalie in the competition.

Peter Boyce has undergone Body Regeneration Therapy in order to get himself back on the pitch for the saints in 2010.

Tom Sheehan - after calling a press conference in early February, Tom announced to a huge media contingent that he was hanging up his boots at the tender age of 25, reportedly Sheehan is enjoying retirement from competitive footy, moved back to Melbourne to start a family and open his own medical marijuana stall in downtown Melbourne.

Liam Ackland - After leaving on a jet plane (injured) to Glenelg in search of a career in the SANFL, Liam quickly ran out of money and soon found himself working the red light district of Adelaide. One night a client turned agressive and what was meant to be a routine gobby, quickly turned into a badly broken jaw putting ackland out of the start of the season.

Richard Ault - unfortunatly for the M.R.S, Richie was involved in a mass homicide/suicide in south auckland.

2010 looks to be a promising year for the Mount Roskill Saints, some say its because of the team unity, others say that the law of percentages suggests possible success, maybe for some its the fact that captain David Kay is now 30 and at a level of maturity to lead the team to victory. But for me it's the fact that when you wander down to May Road, you can smell, taste and feel AFL all around. And this year you can also hear it, it whispers "the Mount Roskill Saints are more than likely going to win the AAFL premiership this year..."

Until next month ,
Roving reporter out ........
